William Henry Roberts (1847-1919)
Missionary, born October 25, 1847, in Botetourt Springs, Virginia. Roberts attended Roanoke (Va.) and Richmond colleges, and graduated from the Theological Seminary in Chicago. He served with the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was a missionary under the American Baptist Missionary Union in Bhamo, Burma, from 1879 until 1913, serving among the Kachins. He wrote Pioneering among the Kachins (Boston, 1911). He retired in 1917. Died December 24, 1919.-- The United States in Asia: a historical dictionary
